An excellent upgrade for many old computers
My Q6600 lasted me many years and gave excellent performance without any fuss.
A used Q6600 would make an excellent upgrade for many older Socket 775 machines. It's much easier to find than most of the only very slightly faster quad core CPUs that would often go into the same motherboard.
It's worth keeping in mind that there are two variants of the CPU with identical performance but differing power usage. The SL9UM variant used 105w vs the SLACR variant used 95w and will go better into more compact systems with lesser power supplies.

Core 2 Quad Q6600 (£12)
Bought a fair while ago now because my other cpu was not up to scratch to run my recording software so I opted for this quad core because I knew it worked in my PC. Good performance recording and gaming, but in windows it is definitely slower than my dual core I had previously. (Core 2 duo E7500) for gaming the Q6600 is better but for doc editing or web browsing I recommend the £10 cheaper Core 2 duo E7500

Had A Excellent Service
I bought a Q6600 processor for a budget pc I am building i had the processor at my door in 3 days which means time between ordering and my order being processed, when I opened the packaging nice to see that the processor had been packaged very well and I checked all the contact points and they looked like new, would 100% buy again.
