General Questions

How can I find my nearest store?
Head here and pop in your town or postcode into the search box under 'Find your nearest UK CeX store'.

Where do I find the opening hours?
Opening hours can be found at the bottom of each dedicated store page.

Can I return from one store to another store?
Of course. All our stores accept returns from other CeX stores.

How can I tell if the item I want is in my local CeX shop?
Type the name of your product in the search bar and refine your search by selecting your local store using ‘A specific store’s stock’ drop down box, under "By Availability" on the right of the page.

The goods I want are not in my local store, how can I get them?
CeX are online at, so you can get what you want delivered right to your door.

Is the stock on the website accurate?
Yes it is! Pop down there before someone else gets their mitts on it.

How can I find out more about the goods I’m thinking of buying?
Check the product description of the item for more information.

What do I need to sell goods to a CeX?

Where can I find the phone number for my local CeX store?
Unfortunately store phone numbers are for internal use only but please contact us with any questions you may have. If you are looking for live stock levels you can use our website.

Product Questions

Will your games work on my non-UK system?
Our video games are PAL (UK and Europe) versions, so you’ll need a PAL video game system to play them, with the exception of PS4 and Xbox One which can play any region. All PC (Windows & Mac) products that we sell should work on any PC system, provided it matches the minimum requirements.

What about DVDs?
We only sell Region 2 DVDs, or Region 0 DVDs that have been classified by the BBFC. Region 2 covers the UK, Europe, The Middle East and Japan. Please check your DVD box if in doubt.

Why are some phones of the same make and model different prices?
We grade our phones on network and condition. Check out our grading system here.

Will the phone I buy work on any network?
If your selection is ‘Unlocked’ it sure will, as our ‘Unlocked’ phones are not tied to any specific network and can be used with any compatible service provider.

What payment options do I have to buy my item in store?
You can choose from the following options:

  • Cash payment
  • Visa and Mastercard credit cards
  • Visa Debit, Maestro and Solo debit cards
  • CeX voucher for items you trade in to CeX.
Are some of your products age rated?
Yes. All films are age rated by the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) and all games are either rated by the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) or PEGI (Pan-European Games Information). Games can also include a content warning - for example sexual content, violence or bad language. Ratings are enforced by law and it is an offence to attempt to buy a certificated title if you are under age or to attempt to purchase one on behalf of someone else that is under age.

Can I trade items I have purchased?
Yes! Please note if you want to sell multiples of the same/similar item a bulk discount may be applied.

Membership Requirements

CeX membership allows you to sell and trade your items with us at anyone of our UK wide stores or online at our website It’s free and easy to become a member! We have 2 types of membership.

Exchange Membership
You do not need to bring ID to sign up for Exchange Membership.
We just need your name and postcode.

Note: Exchange Membership allows you to trade-in all items except mobile phones and electronic items. If you want to trade-in or sell mobile phones or electronic items, you will need Full Membership.

Full Membership
Selling to CeX is fast, friendly and fair. Most exchanges don't need ID. If you're exchanging a Phone or selling anything for cash you need a full CeX membership, which is free.

In England, Northern Ireland and Wales full members must to be at least 16 years old (18 in Manchester) and be able to present ONE of the following ID:

  • Current Signed Passport
  • Valid EU National Identity Card
  • Current UK photocard Driving Licence (full/provisional)
  • Current full paper (old style) UK Driving Licence
  • Disabled Drivers Permit
  • Police/Armed Forces Warrant Card
  • Valid DWP Benefit Book or Card
  • Utility Bill (not more than 6 months old)
  • Valid debit/credit card
  • A current bank/credit union/building society/credit card statement (not more than 6 months old)
  • Valid Council Tax/Rent Book
In Scotland, for all trade-ins you must be at least 16 years old and present proof of address dated within the last 30 days for memberships in our stores in Edinburgh. You also need one of the following forms of ID:
  • Valid Passport
  • UK Photo Drivers License (full/provisional)
  • EU Identity card
  • Police or Armed Forces Warrant card
  • Young Scot card bearing the "PASS" logo
  • Two debit or credit cards
